Vita Women’s Mental Wellness Support Group is a peer-led support group individuals or a loved one of an individual that is battling with a mental health illness:

  • Free of cost to participants

  • Designed for adult individuals living with a mental illness or having a loved one who has a mental illness.

  • Peer led support group

  • Meets weekly or monthly

  • No medical therapy or medication is endorsed or recommended

  • Confidential

The purpose behind the support group:

By expressing your experiences in a safe and confidential setting, you gain hope and develop supportive relationships. The purpose of the group allows your voice to be heard, and provides an opportunity for your personal needs to be met. It encourages empowerment, discussions that build strength and a sense of community. You'll benefit through other’s experiences, discover your inner strength and learn now to identify local resources and how to use them.

Vita Women’s Mental Wellness Support Group will help you:

  • See yourself or the individual first, not the illness

  • Recognize that mental illnesses are medical illnesses that may have environmental triggers

  • Understand that mental illnesses are traumatic events

  • Aim for better coping skills

  • Find strength in sharing experiences

  • Reject stigma and not tolerate discrimination

  • Not judge anyone’s pain or your self’s pain

  • Accept ourselves and reject guilt

  • Embrace humor as healthy

  • Work for a better future in a realistic way

*Please keep in mind that this is a peer-led group, with individuals who have researched and attended trainings based on mental health as well as having worked with mental health professionals however, are not licensed to practice professional counseling. This is a support group that comes together as an extra form of support to help individuals or loved ones battling a mental illness through releasing and connecting.

* Mental Wellness Support Groups will be starting on November 7th, 2018 at 6:30 PM located at Vita Center,Inc (Queens), they will continue bi-weekly throughout the year. Registration is a must! Sign up at
